BECOME A COACH

Interested in becoming a coach with WSA? Great! We are here to help you every step of the way. Please read thru the information below and follow the directions, then be sure to read thru our other Coaches information such as Coaching Education and Laws of the Game to prepare yourself for the season.

STEP ONE - REGISTER AS A COACH THRU GOTSOCCER

We use GotSoccer to register our players and coaches. This platform will also allow you (once you have been assigned a team and players) to view your team information, print game sheets and email your team! Once you have read thru these steps and are ready to volunteer as a coach, simply CLICK HERE to register. Please remember your user id and password, you will need it each time that you login as a coach.

*Please note that all coaches must be approved by our board and will be utilized as needed. Not everyone who registers will receive a team.

STEP TWO - BACKGROUND CHECK AND PICTURE

Anyone who could possibly be left alone with or in charge of players should complete a background check and upload a head shot picture of them self in their GotSoccer Coach account. 

A background check is required each June. If you have completed a background check after June 1st, you will not need a new one until the following June.

  1. Log into your GotSoccer Coach account

  2. From the gray menu bar, select "Background Checks".

  3. Select "Submit A New Report"

  4. Complete the online instructions.

  5. Upload a HEAD SHOT picture of yourself. This should look like a driver's license picture of just your face.

  6. You will receive an email from NTSSA once you have been approved by them.

STEP THREE - CONCUSSION AWARENESS (Head Coaches Only)

Once you have been approved to coach by NTSSA and WSA has contacted you regarding coaching a team, you will need to complete the CDC's "Head's Up, Concussion Awareness" training course.

  1. Log into your GotSoccer Coach account.

  2. From the gray menu bar, select "Concussion Center".

  3. Select "Go To Courses Page" for Center of Disease Control's Head's Up Concussion Test".

  4. Complete the 15 minute video and all test questions in ONE sitting. If you navigate from the page, it will require you to start over. 

STEP FOUR - SAFESPORT SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AWARENESS 

Once you have been approved to coach by NTSSA and WSA has contacted you regarding coaching a team, you will need to complete the three training modules provided by SafeSport: Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education, Mandatory Reporting and Emotional and Physical Misconduct. Please remember to PRINT or screenshot your SafeSport Trained completion certificate and email a copy to us at admin@waxahachiesoccer.org.

  1. Visit www.safesport.org

  2. Use the same ID and Password that you created when registering as a coach with GotSoccer to register with SafeSport. 

  3. When prompted to 'Add Membership', select 'US Soccer' and your organization and enter the access code: YC3E-6P5G-YYIL-CS2M

  4. In order to complete your course registration, you will receive an email to verify your email address. You must click the activation link in your email in order to continue.

  5. Once you have verified your email, you will login to SafeSport and will be directed to the SafeSport Learning Dashboard where you can begin the training modules. In order to be considered SafeSport Trained, you must complete all three training modules. 

  6. Once you have completed all three training modules, be sure to print or screenshot your completion certificate and email to us at admin@waxahachiesoccer.org.

STEP FIVE - COACHING EDUCATION

You will want to visit the Coaching Education page of our website to familiarize yourself. All new coaches are required to attend the Coaching 101 course presented by WSA. This is usually held around the same time as our Coaches Meeting. Please check our calendar for dates.

STEP SIX - COACHES MEETING

This is a mandatory meeting for ALL coaches at the beginning of the season. This is when you will receive important dates and information for the season, meet your age level commissioner and receive your team roster. A representative from each team must be at this meeting. Check our calendar for dates.
